Buddy Break

A Day of Joy for Kids. A Moment of Rest for Parents.

Buddy Break is a FREE respite program designed especially for children with special needs (our VIP kids) and their siblings. While kids enjoy a safe, fun-filled afternoon, parents get the gift of a few hours to rest, recharge, and breathe.

At Buddy Break, VIP kids make friends, play games, create crafts, enjoy music, hear stories, and experience the love of Christ in a place where they are fully accepted and celebrated.

Meanwhile, parents receive a meaningful break from their ongoing caregiving responsibilities — knowing their children are cared for by trained, loving volunteers.

All buddies attend a mandatory Buddy Break training to ensure every child is cared for with confidence, compassion, and understanding. No experience needed — just a heart to serve.

Buddy Break is one of the most tangible ways we serve families impacted by disability in our community. It’s a simple act with a huge impact — a practical “cup of cold water” offered in Jesus’ name.

🙌 Who Can Be a Buddy?

Age 16+ – can serve directly with VIP kids

Age 18+ – required to complete a background check

Junior Buddies (ages 10–15) – may attend training and assist with setup, cleanup, and activities but will never be alone with VIP kids

You don’t need prior experience — just a willingness to love and serve.
