Thesis: The law God gave to Moses was a description of what true love looks like in action. In other words, the law is love at work.
God prefaces the 10 commandments by reminding God’s people of who rescued them from slavery. The 10 commandments are meant as a pathway to freedom and true love. They are what pure love looks like in action. The law is Love At Work.
